UK transport secretary Philip Hammond has suggested the ban on taking liquids on to aircraft in hand luggage could be eased from April. Hammond has indicated to UK media that he wants to make the security system “more flexible” and that he sympathised with parents of small children who had to open and taste jars of baby food before being allowed to take it on the aircraft. The European Union has already suggested it could lift the ban on liquids in 2013 because new technology can identify explosive materials in liquids.
