Airline CEOs and consumer rights’ groups are meeting together for the first time with the ministry of civil aviation’s newly-formed advisory body the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) today to discuss both sides of the fare hike debate. However because the EAC is only an advisory body, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) Tariff Analysis Unit will remain responsible for monitoring airfares and taking up relevant issues with airline representatives. The EAC is responsible for the public disclosure of airline practices, including tariffs and conditions of service to passengers.
