Air China, China Eastern, China Southern and Hainan Airlines are planning to jointly sue the European Union for its plan to charge airlines for carbon emissions. The move joins a similar legal challenge by the Air Transport Association of America, American Airlines and United Continental, whose case is being heard in the European Court of Justice (ECJ) and a ruling is expected early in the New Year.
