A North Vancouver businessman, Ahmet Kadioglu, has filed a lawsuit against Cathay Pacific accusing the airline of pocketing a fee that it misrepresented as a tax when adding it to the cost of his Vancouver-Hong Kong return ticket. The courts have been asked to certify the case as a class-action lawsuit on behalf of all consumers who have paid the fee. Kadioglu he purchased his ticket at a Flight Centre last month for travel in October. The agent quoted a price of $809 for the fare plus $409.87 in taxes for a total cost of $1,218.87.
