Four flight attendants from Alaska Airlines have filed a lawsuit to an Illinois state court in Chicago against Boeing, which claims toxic air from an engine leaked into their aircraft making them seriously ill on a 2013 flight. The suit claims that Boeing has known about the potential danger of drawing warm air off jet engines to heat aircraft cabins. Boeing has not commented on the lawsuit. Previous Federal Aviation Administration studies have shown that cabin air is as good as air in offices and homes but has admitted that contaminants can enter the cabin if equipment fails.
