The UK government seems intent to let APD devolution take place in the UK – In the event that would most likely see those areas with a devolved parliament (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) dump APD leaving England at a disadvantage, worse still it could lead to all areas of the UK charging a different APD amount – a real possible regulatory problem for airlines. There are already six types of APD rate in the UK and this could now treble.
