Ecuadorean airline Tame has suspended flights to Venezuela since the airline has not received over $43 million from the Venezuelan Central Bank in overdue payment since April 2013. As a result of the action by the airline, 80 passengers were left stranded at Quito airport.
Sources say that negotiations to settle the debt have failed, with Venezuelan officials offering to pay part of the debt in government bonds and aviation fuel.
