Airlines operating into the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos are indebted to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to as much as N1.7bilion. The debts were accumulated between March and September 1, 2012 when the Societe Internationale de Telecommunique Aeronautiques (SITA) under the International Air Transport Association (IATA) took over the aeronautic revenue point for the agency in March this year.
The debts were owed by both local and foreign carriers with Arik Air topping the list of debtors with N682.2million. But the airline had denied owing FAAN.
