Lufthansa has agreed to increase cabin crew pay by 3.5% over a two-year period from January. Trade union UFO had insisted on a 5% increase, which was countered by a 3.5% offer from Lufthansa. The pay deal will cost the airline an additional €33 million at the same time it is trying to cut costs by €1.5 billion by end 2014.
Lufthansa has also promised the UFO that there would be no mandatory job cuts until the end of 2014 and it would also not outsource cabin crew staff until 2016.
