The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into a United Airlines flight, which returned to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport after its pilot reported a potential fire in the plane’s cockpit on February 12, 2025.
The incident occurred shortly after the 737-800's takeoff from the Illinois airport at 10:20am local time.
Flight 1879 was flying to Los Cabos, Mexico and landed safely back in Chicago. No injuries were reported.
