Spanish carrier Air Europa will launch a new route between Madrid and Johannesburg next summer, with the inaugural flight departing on June 24, 2026.
The route will operate three times weekly using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Air Europa said the new route to Johannesburg — Africa’s main air hub — will open up numerous connections for European travellers to the continent.
Along with Johannesburg, Air Europa will add several other new destinations to its African network in 2026.
For the summer season, it will resume flights to Marrakech and Tunis, and will fly to Tangier for the first time.
In addition, a new route to Geneva will be launched in June, and frequencies on European routes will be increased, alongside an expansion of the domestic network.
