A. Raghunathan, the former chief financial officer (CFO) of the now defunct Kingfisher Airlines, has been sentenced to 18-months in prison after a court ruled his issued cheques to GMR Hyderabad International Airport that he knew would bounce. He was also fined Rs.20,000 in each case. Chairman Vijay Mallya has also been accused of the same but as he is out of the country, the court proceeded against Raghunathan. Raghunathan has been found guilty under relevant sections of Negotiable Instruments Act. Raghunathan is able to appeal the judgement.
