Canadian air-safety officials from Transport Canada have ordered emergency inspections of landing gears on more than 300 Bombardier Q400 turbobrop aircraft, in order to ensure that alternate extension systems can properly deploy the main gears. The safety directive calls for inspections to be completed within 10 days or 50 flight hours. The FAA is expected to adopt the same directive. A Bombardier spokeswoman said on Tuesday that about 65% of the Q400 fleet has been inspected, with problems found and parts replaced on two aircraft.
