AWAS has posted a pretax loss of $130 million due to a $191 million aircraft impairment charge during the fourth quarter of 2013, reports Gary Liebowitz. Basic rents rose by 10% year-on-year however (ex-lease incentive amortization) to $248 million. The Irish lessor commented that lease rates were improving even for new A320s. AWAS expects to increase its total assets to more than $12bn by 2015 from the current $10bn.
