Malaysia Airlines has warned that a weaker ringgit against the US dollar is impacting the company’s costs. The ringgit is around 4.3680 against the US dollar today. “We are cautious of potential downside scenarios and market fluidity and are taking steps to cushion the impact they may have on our businesses,” Malaysia Airlines said in a recent statement to media. The increase in fuel cost is a particular pressure since MAS has confirmed it now accounts for 40-45% of the airline’s total operational costs – up from 35% a year ago.
