Tennessee-based freighter Forward Air Corporation is to up its general rate by 5.9% from February 6 2023, it announced on December 8. In a statement, the carrier, which operates mostly by road with terminals at around 100 North American airports, said the increase would enable it “to continue investing in service enhancement as operating costs have risen by double digit percentages in 2022 for many in the freight transportation industry”, citing rising inflation and input costs. Describing itself as “an expedited carrier”, Forward said it aimed to operate “on demand” and minus what it claimed were the “long lead times”
