Xiamen Airlines has placed an order of 40 A320neo becoming the newest Airbus customer. Xiamen Airlines made the switch for its fleet growth and fleet modernisation plans. China Southern Airlines, the major shareholder of Xiamen Airlines, made the announcement to the Shanghai Stock exchange. According to Airbus, the A320neo incorporates new generation engines and Sharklets, delivering 25% fuel gain and CO2 saving along with 50% noise reduction. As per the August 2022 reports, Airbus has 8,500 firm orders from across the world for A320 from over 130 customers.
