In April 2020 Wizz Air operated at three percent of its capacity with load factors of 75% as the Central European LCC felt the full impact of COVID 19. In addition to its regular passenger traffic Wizz Air operated 71 cargo flights with medical equipment as well as 28 rescue flights since the breakout of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the month of April, emissions in grams per passenger/km were 9.9% higher due to the drop in load factor, while total CO2 emissions in tonnes decreased in line with capacity.
