Canadian airline WestJet said on December 5 it would launch its first Asia-bound flights in 2023 when it connects Calgary International with with Narita International Airport in Japan. The announcement came on an “exciting day” for the airline, according to chief executive Alexis van Hoensbroech, with the unveiling of two new routes from Calgary to European destinations in Barcelona and Edinburgh. The new routes – which include the first non-stop Alberta-Asia connection – would be followed by “broader expansion” of domestic and North American routes, WestJet said.
