Volaris Aviation has posted a first quarter earnings per share (EPS) of ($0.28), $0.08 worse than analyst estimate of ($0.20). Revenue was $212 million, considerably below the consensus estimate of $220.83 million. Volaris CEO Enrique Beltranena said: “In the first quarter of 2014, market conditions were very difficult. While I am disappointed in the quarter’s financial results, we responded well to the challenges. We managed capacity and pricing in a responsible way, reaffirmed our cost control discipline and grew non-ticket revenues.
