United Airlines is reported to be in the early stages of negotiation for a large aircraft order for an estimated 200 planes. Given Airbus’ success with the American Airlines order, the European manufacture will be pushing just as hard to win the United deal, which is predicted to be placed late this year or early in 2012. “United has the newest and most fuel-efficient fleet among the network carriers, and we have regular, ongoing communications with manufacturers,” said United Continental spokesman Mike Trevino.
