A new national carrier, United Nigeria, has been established by the Nigerian Air Force. At first the airline will transport Nigerian troops, but will later be used for passenger and cargo transport. The Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, has commissioned a Boeing 737-500 for the airline, acquired as part of a joint partnership between the Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services Limited (AETSL) of the Nigerian Air Force Holding Company (NAFHC) and Solicom Engineering Nigeria Limited in a public-private partnership.
