Colombian budget airline Ultra Air has called a halt to operations. The carrier said that as of March 30, it had stopped flying and advised affected passengers to contact Avianca, Latam and Wingo to ask about using Ultra tickets on their schedules. The shuttering came weeks after former rival Viva Air announced a sudden stoppage to flights after Colombia’s regulator blocked it from merging with Avianca. Colombian officials later reversed their opposition to the deal, which Viva said was necessary for it to keep operating after pandemic restrictions saw it incur heavy losses and eventual bankruptcy.
