It has been widely reported that Thai Airways has expressed an interested in buying a 20% stake Thai AirAsia. Discussions will continue this week, according to the Bangkok Post, which have been encouraged by the Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who believes the operation will contribute to the country’s tourism by allowing both companies to expand their routes in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. Thai Airways has been requested by the finance ministry to conduct a feasibility study over the next two months, which will finance any deal.
