Lufthansa Group carrier SWISS said it would restart training and hiring pilots in 2022, ending a two-year recruitment freeze. The two-year course is to be run by Lufthansa Aviation Training’s European Flight Academy, the carrier said. Although hiring was suspended “in view of the pandemic”, SWISS said on December 20 it would offer jobs to 80 first officers who had earlier come through the training course. Head of flight operations Stefan-Kenan Scheib the carrier aims “to ensure that we continue to meet all our cockpit crewing needs”. SWISS recently agreed a salary increase deal for its pilots after “tough” negotiations.
