Spirit Airlines is accused of intentionally and systematically targeting consumers with deceptive advertising and pricing practices for years in a new class-action lawsuit. The suit relates to the airline’s Passenger Usage Fee, which lawyers from the firm Podhurst Orseck say that it is an illusory fee and should be included in the total fare as per DOT regulations rather than embedded with other government fees. The firm says that as many as five million passengers might be eligible to join the class action. Spirit Airlines has stated that the claims are without merit and intends to defend the case.
