Airlines cancelled 5,358 flights yesterday and today due to the winter storm in the United States, says FlightAware.com. Yesterday (Sunday), airlines cancelled 2,566 flights in the US and 2,827 flights were delayed.  Chicago airports (O’Hare and Midway) were most impacted and represented over 65% of the flights cancelled — the airports saw over 75% of their flights cancelled (1,694 cancellations). Today (Monday), airlines have cancelled 2,792 flights in the US and so far, 645 flights are delayed.  The New York area is being harder hit, with Newark (a United Airlines hub) the most impacted — over 50% of flights cancelled.
