A United Airlines aircraft was forced to turn back following take off from Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans yesterday to make an emergency landing after reports of smoke in the cockpit. The United Airlines Flight 497 bound for San Francisco touched down at just minutes after taking off at 7 am. Passengers on board the plane were safely evacuated on the runway.
