Seychelles to gain new airline

New startup Seychelles Airlines submitted its formal application to the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) for an Air Operator Certificate.

Chief Executive of Seychelles Airlines, Ahmed Afif said: “Seychelles Airlines is putting in place all other aviation components to be ready for flight operations soon after obtaining its Air Transport License.”

After the paperwork is completed, the new carrier expects to commence operations later in 2014 using a B767-300ER initially.

The airline has been formed as a response to demands from tourist agencies to expand air services to the Seychelles. The archipelago is currently only served by flag carrier Air Seychelles.
