SA Express was grounded for one day after the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) suspended its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) for safety reasons. However, the suspension was lifted the following day (Monday May 2). Although it was only one day suspension, the airline cancelled flights on Saturday May, which left many passengers stranded at airports. The airline management met with the SACAA immediately after it issued the suspension to better understand the SACAA’s audit requirements clearly and were able to respond accordingly, said SA Express CEO Inati Ntshanga.
