Qantas to make first biofuel flight
On April 13, Qantas will make the first commercial flight in Australia using an A330 powered with biofuel. The biofuel being used during this flight will be supplied by Dutch firm SkyNRG, which also powered Lufthansa’s passenger aircraft for six month from July 2011 to January 2012. This has surprised some observers since Qantas has been working with Solena and Solyzene to develop a biofuel production plant for Australia, although these plans are reported to have stalled somewhat.
