Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning and Reforms, has given the senior management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) until January 26 to develop a comprehensive two-year plan for the restoration of the airline. Iqbal chairs a special committee formed by Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) to supervise reforms of PIA. He has ordered a clear road map and business model to be set out, which embeds accountability at all levels of the company, to help return the airline to profitability over the next two years. He commented that PIA should not be run as a government department.
