Carlsbad-based California Pacific Airlines has appointed John Selvaggio as its president and CEO. He takes over from founder and Chairman Ted Vallas. The carrier anticipates a mid-summer completion of its Federal Aviation Administration certification to offer commercial flights from McClellan-Palomar Airport. Selvaggio was founder, president and CEO of Song Airlines, a low-cost subsidiary service operated by Delta Air Lines from 2003 to 2006. He retired due to a Delta bankruptcy filing, and the airline rehired him in 2007 as president and CEO of its Comair subsidiary.
