Thai budget airline Nok Air is to stop flying from capital Bangkok to Mae Hong Son in the north of the country near the border with Myanmar. Nok will operate the last flight to the airport on April 19, after which the area will be accessible only by road. The airline said it cannot operate the route as it is ditching its fleet of 80-seat Q400 turboprops in favour of Boeing 787s, which, although they can be landed at the airport, are too big to make the route commercially-viable, according to the local chamber of commerce.
