Lufthansa and the UFO union, which represents the German airline’s cabin crew, have agreed to enter into formal mediation talks over pay and conditions. The airline has now resumed after it was forced to cancel half of its scheduled 1,800 flights because of the one-day stoppage on Friday. Lufthansa has offered permanent contracts to some temporary cabin crew working at Berlin airport who had been employed by a separate agency on temporary contracts, which was a contention issue for the UFO. Lufthansa however is not budging on its offer of a 3.6% pay rise despite UFO demands for 5%.
