ITA Airways says it will maintain its “intercontinental expansion” as it opens sales for a new route connecting Rome Fiumicino with Rio de Janeiro. The first flight on the new daily route is scheduled for late October 2023 and will augment the Italian carrier’s plans to “further strengthen” its presence in South America following the opening of routes from Rome to Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo. “I am pleased to announce the launch of the new Rome Fiumicino – Rio de Janeiro direct flight,” said Emiliana Limosani, ITA Airways chief commercial officer.
