The Public Enterprises Minister of South Africa, Malusi Gigaba, has asked the auditor-general to help reconstruct SA Express’ financials. The airline was forced to withdraw its financial statements for the past year for reportedly being “inaccurate” and “unreliable” with one of the major issues being a VAT amount of R32 million. The airline has told Parliament that this amount may not be fully recoverable from the SA Revenue Service. SA Express chairwoman Lillian Boyle has expressed her delight to hear that the auditor-general would assist in the finalisation of its accounts.
