Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes has agreed to acquire low-cost carrier Webjet Linhas Aereas for 96 million reais ($61 million). Webjet, based in Rio de Janeiro and controlled by Guilherme Paulus, controls 5.2% of the Brazilian airline market. With this deal GOL will get access to Webjet’s slots at Brazil’s main hubs and eliminates a low-cost competitor that catered to leisure passengers.
