Aer Lingus regional operator Emerald Airlines has announced two new services to Newcastle and Nottingham East Midlands from Belfast City. The carrier said it is to re-establish “all domestic regional points” vacated by the recently-collapsed carrier Flybe, with the East Midlands route to open on March 26 followed by Newcastle a month later. “Following the collapse of Flybe, East Midlands and Newcastle were the airline’s only destinations not served by other carriers from Belfast City Airport,” said Katy Best, the airport’s commercial director. “We are very pleased to be strengthening our schedule out of Belfast City Airport.
