German Efromovich, owner of Avianca, has again reiterated his interest in expanding his presence in Europe by investing in one or more airlines. Speaking to Polish newspaper, Rzeczpospolita, Efromovich stated that he is considering taking over Alitalia or LOT. Efromovich was a previous bidder for Portugal’s TAP, which was rejected by the government. However recently, the Polish government has hinted that a further bid from him would be welcomed once the privatization of the airline is relaunched next year. However, Efromovich has commented to the newspaper that buying TAP was “not necessarily a priority” anymore.
