Although its last flight was in 1991, Eastern Air Lines Group has filed an application with the Department of Transportation to begin services. Ed Wegel. CEO of the group, hopes to start flights by December 2014 and expects to take delivery of an A320 in August or September. Based in Miami, the airline has yet to make a decision on initial routes, but plans to restart with charter services. The group bought the rights to the airline name and logo out of bankruptcy court in 2009 but it has only now secured sufficient investor support to restart the airline.
