Taiwan’s two leading international airlines slid back heavily in trading yesterday amid concerns that rising international crude oil prices and poor weather conditions in Europe and the USA will impact their profitability through cargo demand cuts. The concerns were first highlighted when Macquarie Securities recommended an “underperform” rating on the two stocks giving a target price of NT$21.00 on China Airlines and NT$34.20 on EVA Air. China Airlines fell 3.41% to end at NT$24.10 (US$0.83) while EVA Air lost 4.47% to close at NT$34.20.
