Cathay Pacific has announced that its final scheduled long-haul B747-400 flight will depart San Francisco for Hong Kong Chep Lap Kok on August 31st. The Hong Kong-based carrier still has nine 747-400s in operational service on flights to China, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Japan, the United States, Singapore, Taiwan, and South Africa.The nine remaining 747s will be replaced by Cathay’s incoming fleet of B777-300ERs and A350-1000s, and will only be used for regional services in Asia from September onwards.
