Following the collapse of Adria Airways, Belgian carrier Brussels Airlines has launched new flights to Slovenian capital Ljubljana. Brussels Airlines, which hasn’t mentioned Adria’s collapse as the reasoning behind its decision, will open a six-times-weekly service from Brussels from 4 November, using Airbus A319s. Slovenia’s Adria Airways ceased all its flights on 30 September and went into liquidation the following day. The Slovenian national airline, a member of the Star Alliance, struggled to return to profitability and filed for bankruptcy, after financial pressures led to days of disruption to its flight schedule.
