AirAsia X has posted a 46% fall in its net profit to M$26.4 million ($8.32 million) for its third quarter ended 30 September. Revenue rose during the period however by 24% growth in revenue to M$601 million. The reason given was that the airline failed to recoup the RM26mil loss from Q2 caused by lower-than-expected yields. Since its nine-month core earnings of RM22.8mil were only 24% of its full-year estimate. Underlying passenger yield has fallen 3.3% on-year but AirAsia X managed to stave off greater losses by a 5% lift in ancillary yield.
