Air Nigeria is suspending operations on September 10 due to continuing strike action and a weak operating environment, according to chairman Jimoh Ibrahim. Ibrahim states that he plans to resume operations within 12 months supported by 50 what he describes as “loyal staff”. The remainder of the airline’s staff will be sacked. Strikes have plagued the airline in May and June, while the Nigerian CAA grounded the airline until it passed a fleet safety inspection. Then the airline was raided over unpaid taxes and its key staff arrested.
