Romero to head up IAG

Antonio Vazquez Romero, Iberia’s current executive chairman, will be chairman of the newly-merged International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG). British Airways chairman Martin Broughton will be deputy chairman of IAG and Willie Walsh has been confirmed as the group chief executive.

Keith Williams, the current chief financial officer of BA, will replace Walsh as chief executive at the airline, with Rafael Sanchez-Lozano Turmo as chief executive of Iberia.

The newly formed board is comprised of 14 members, including nine non-executive directors, one of which is former US treasury secretary John Snow. Patrick Cescau, former Unilever chief executive, Kieran Poynter, the former PricewaterhouseCoopers chairman and Baroness Denise Kingsmill are also board members.
