Airlink Response: Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu

Airlink is currently helping its partners respond to Cyclone Pam, which hit the island nation of Vanuatu on Friday, March 13. While the full extent of the damage caused by this Category 5 storm is still being assessed, an estimated 44 people have died in the Penama Province (based on incomplete and unconfirmed reports), and reports suggest that whole villages have been wiped out across the islands. Port Vila’s international airport has been closed until Monday due to damage, making it difficult for relief aid and workers to respond quickly and make an accurate assessment of the damage.

We are already receiving requests from our nonprofit partners to support relief workers and aid cargo to affected communities, and we have already helped move four relief workers into the country from Team Rubicon in order to perform reconnaissance and conduct damage assessments.

Donate your miles

Donate United Charity Miles to Airlink so that we can continue to deploy relief workers as quickly as possible. 40,000 miles will send an additional relief worker from the United States to help with reconnaissance, search and rescue, or emergency medical aid.
