Airlink Response: 7.8 Magnitude Earthquake, Nepal

Airlink is currently helping its partners respond to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal that devastated the cities of Kathmandu and Pokhara at noon local time on Saturday, April 25. Between 700 and 1,200 people were reportedly killed with the total expected to climb as search and rescue continues. The numbers of injured, missing, and affected is still unknown. Hospitals are at capacity and many patients are being treated in the streets, with medical supplies quickly dwindling. The Government of Nepal has asked for assistance both search-and-rescue and medical capacity. The status of emergency food rations and potable water is unknown, however the Government is expected to set up displacement camps in Kathmandu Valley.

We are already receiving requests from our nonprofit partners to support relief workers and aid cargo to affected communities, and are communicating with a number of airline partners to support. A full operational report on our response can be found here.

If your nonprofit needs assistance with response, please email us at ops@airlinkflight.org
