Airbus wins 754 orders

Airbus has confirmed it has won 754 orders in the first eight months of the year.
Airbus boosted its orderbook in August with transactions for 346 aircraft across its single-aisle and widebody product lines. The 44 deliveries during the month involved Airbus’ single-aisle A320 Family aircraft along with widebody A330s and A380s.
As a result, total orders for the A320neo (new engine option) product line surpassed 4,000 (increasing to 4,193) and the company marked another new industry-record with a backlog of almost 6,700 aircraft to be delivered.

August’s new bookings were paced by IndiGo’s order for 250 A320neo jetliners. This brings total A320 Family aircraft being acquired by the Indian domestic airline to 530, comprising both NEO and CEO (current engine option) versions.

Also in August, an unnamed customer ordered 32 A320neo aircraft along with eight A320ceos, while British Airways and Vueling ordered 10 A320neos each as part of the International Airlines Group (IAG) order announced on 6 August. Completing the single-aisle business was an undisclosed customer’s signing for three NEO jetliners in the ACJ320neo corporate jet configuration.

These bookings brought total firm orders for the best-selling A320 Family product line to more than 12,000 aircraft, and the A320 Family backlog to more than 5,400.
During the month, Airbus booked a total of 33 widebodies. Fifteen A330-300s were ordered by an undisclosed customer. Spain’s Iberia booked eight A350-900s and three A330-200s as part of the IAG order announced on 6 August. Completing the month’s widebody business was an unnamed customer’s acquisition of three A330-300s and two A330-200s, along with another undisclosed customer’s order for two A330-300s.
This new business brought Airbus’ 2015 gross orders to 754 aircraft as of 31 August, with the year-to-date net orders totalling 708 when cancellations are taken into account.

In August, Airbus provided 44 aircraft to operators and customers, composed of 32 A320 Family aircraft, 10 A330s and two A380s.

Based on the month’s activity, Airbus completed August with the industry record backlog of 6,697 aircraft overall – corresponding to 10 years of production at current rates.
